Grief and Trauma Therapy in Alaska and California
You’re barely holding it together, and it’s getting harder everyday.
Your brain keeps replaying the details. Your body feels unfamiliar.
Why is it so hard to talk to people?
You go from sad, to mad and then numb over and over. The loop is starting to feel unbearable.
Did any of that really happen? Is this really my life?
You don’t have to stay stuck in this loop.

04 RELATIONAL TRAUMA OR LOSS
When the person you’re grieving has not died, but the loss is real. Some examples of this could be estrangement, divorce, the end of a relationship, emotionally distant parents, a loved one with an addiction, or a loved one with dementia, etc.
I am a certified Perinatal Mental Health provider and offer therapy to birthing and non-birthing partners who are experiencing symptoms of depression and anxiety and unexpected challenges in pregnancy or postpartum.
Frequently Asked Questions
-
The short answer here is yes, absolutely. Studies have shown that telehealth is just as effective as in person therapy and often preferred by many clients for the flexibility it provides. That being said, it really depends on your preference and comfort level.
-
There are definitely some situations that are more appropriate for in person therapy. If I am concerned for your safety, your privacy or my ability to meet your needs, we will discuss additional care options and resources.
-
There is absolutely flexibility in therapy. Your needs, goals and what works changes regularly. We want to work with that change and be sure that you and your needs are the central focus and not a specific therapeutic approach.
-
First of all, I am sorry if this has been the case. I do unfortunately hear it often and we work through that in our own sessions together. It takes a lot to try again with a new therapist. I believe the relationship and connection you and I have in our sessions is the most important thing, so we check-in frequently to make sure you are feeling understood and sessions are aligning with what you want from therapy.
-
I usually recommend that you schedule at least three consultation calls with different therapists before deciding what feels like the right fit for you. Once you meet with a few people, it starts to become clear who feels right. Beyond who feels like a good fit, choosing a therapist who has experience and training in the area you are seeking support is also so important. This saves time, protects you and sets you up for a much better experience and outcome in therapy.
-
This is a great question and very understandable. You will never be forced to do anything you are not ready for in therapy. There is so much more to therapy than verbal processing. Sometimes we focus on safety and grounding or somatic (in your body) processing and sometimes EMDR is the best fit, which requires no verbal processing at all. No one thing is right for everyone and we always go at the pace that you feel ready for.
-
The majority of my clinical and personal experience is directly working with individuals in grief and who have gone through traumatic experiences. I also have extensive training and education in these areas because this is the work I want to be doing and I want to show up for you in the best possible way.

We will have a dedicated space to meet virtually through a secure video platform each week. We will get to know each other, address what has brought you here at this particular point in your life and create the needed space for processing or healing. Sometimes therapy is a lot of work and we get very real and other times we just need to laugh and breathe together. It’s a process, and I’m here for it all.
